Meet the People of JARC

Introducing . . .  Barbara Hertsberg


(Barbara Hertsberg, who is 81 years old, is a participant in JARC's Supported Independence Program and recently took a trip with her staff, Shresse Mallett, to visit her cousin, Donna, whom she hadn't seen in 25 years. These are Barbara's own words.)

My staff, Shresse, and I took a long five-hour bus ride to Dayton, Ohio.  Donna and her husband, Yale, met us at the bus station and they took us to Panera Bread for a treat.  I had a capuccino and a cinnamon roll.  Later we went to the Marriott Hotel to check in for two nights . . .  (read more)

About JARC

JARC is a Farmington Hills, MIchigan-based nonprofit, nonsectarian agency dedicated to enabling people with disabilities to live full, dignified lives in the community, and to providing support and advocacy for their families.  JARC operates 20 group homes and a variety of independent living programs for adults, and serves more than 450 families who have a child or adult with a disability who is living at home.
