The Lama and Samuel Shetzer Independent Living Services Division

JARC believes anyone can fulfill their dream of independence. To this end, we provide the appropriate level of support to enable men and women with any level of disability to live on their own.

JARC's Independent Living Services serves people age 18 and over. They live throughout southern Oakland County in a variety of independent living situations:

  • Living by oneself in an apartment, home or condominium
  • Living with someone else who is also served by JARC
  • Living with roommates who do not have a disability
  • Living in a complex near other JARC participants

JARC coordinates the appropriate level of staff support, ranging from one hour per week to 24 hours a day.

In addition to providing comprehensive assessment, training, referral, and supervisory services, JARC provides enriching and fulfilling opportunities in community life. We facilitate a variety of cultural, social and religious activities, including theatre and dinner outings, vacations and weekend getaways, and trips to sporting events and museums.
