Chief Executive Officer

On July 21, 2008, Richard A. Loewenstein succeeded Joyce Keller, who had served as JARC's Executive Director for 30 years, to become the agency's new Chief Executive Officer.

Mr. Loewenstein graduated from Cranbrook School and then Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts in 1982.  He worked in the food industry for fifteen years and then became president of Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan.  Most recently, Mr. Loewenstein served as the Chief Advancement Officer of Cranbrook Educational Community located in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan where he was an integral part of the success of its $150 million comprehensive campaign.

Mr. Loewenstein will be overseeing JARC's programs, operations, finances, fundraising, community outreach and relations with its Board of Directors. 


Christine Hench
Chief Operating Officer

Ms. Hench, JARC’s Chief Operating Officer, has been with the agency since 1988, and oversees all of JARC’s program services.  She has been involved in all aspects of program development, including the formation of JARC’s Harris Division and growth in JARC’s residential and enhanced services.

Ms. Hench received her MSW from the University of Michigan School of Social Work and Bachelor of Arts with Distinction from the University of Michigan School of Languages, Arts and Sciences.
