In the 7th grade year at Hillel Day School the students are introduced to JARC through home visits, activities at Hillel, and group activities throughout the community. The students learn all about the many services and support that JARC offers to its participants. It is an amazing experience for the students and one that will stay with them for years to come. The 7th grade year is also the year that many students plan and execute mitzvah projects as part of their bar mitzvah celebrations.
Recently, three 7th grade boys from Hillel Day School, Jacob Bean, Jackson Partrich and Daniel Sternberg, decided to combine these two experiences to benefit their new friends from JARC. They initiated the first ever faculty-student baseball game to raise money to buy a gift for one of the JARC homes. They recruited teachers, fellow classmates and families to play in the game, sold tickets to watch the game and sold concessions before during and after the game with all proceeds directed to JARC. The weather held out and it was a huge success for everyone involved. The boys raised over $400 that will be used to purchase an item on the JARC home wish list. Hillel is hoping to make this an annual event.

Hillel students delivered a new birdhouse, bird bath and bird food to JARC's Laker Home in West Bloomfield. Those were a few of the items they were able to purchase with the proceeds from their fundraiser. They are planning to take one of the men who lives at the Lake Home to a Detroit Tigers game in late August
