Raise The Roof:  The Medow Home Makeover

JARC is launching its Raise The Roof:  The Medow Home Makeover in Huntington Woods.

(L to R:  Medow Home Assistant Manager, Carowyn Major, Raise The Roof chair, Joanne Aronovitz and Medow Home resident, Eileen Cohen)

JARC opened the Shirley T. Medow Home on Roycout in Huntington Woods in 1982.  Today, it is home to six women and is the only JARC home in Huntington Woods.  In an effort to meet the current and future needs of the women we serve, JARC is embarking on an extensive renovation project called, "Raise The Roof:  Medow Home Makeover". (Read a great feature article in the "Huntington Woods-Berkley Patch"!)

From October 15 to December 12, 2010
, JARC will engage in a community fundraising campaign to raise $100,000 for this project.  Campaign chairs are Joanne and Danny Aronovitz.  Any funds raised over our goal amount will be used for the ongoing maintenance and transportation costs at the Medow Home.

The Makeover includes:
- new geothermal heating and cooling system
- new barrier-free kitchen
- new high-efficiency appliances and lighting
- new three-season porch
- roof and driveway repair
- new native landscaping
- eco-friendly paint
