Establish A Fund

Establishing a named fund at JARC is a wonderful way to honor or memorialize a loved one.  Your contribution will help to provide services to people with disabilities for years to come.

Endowed Funds

Permanent endowment funds are available for a minimum of $25,000. 

  • An endowment can be established for a general or specific purpose. 
  • Additional gifts of $500 or more are added to the corpus; tributes, tribute banks and gifts of less than $500 are spent for the fund’s purpose, as are interest and dividends.

Spendable Funds

Named spendable funds are available for a minimum of $5,000.

  • Spendable funds can be established for a general or specified purpose.
  • Spendable funds are not permanent, but have a guaranteed lifespan.
  • The guaranteed lifespan is one year per $1,000 donated.  (e.g., a $5,000 initial gift will ensure that the fund exists for at least five years.  A $10,000 initial gift will ensure that the fund exists for at least 10 years, etc.)
  • Additional gifts (tributes and other gifts) and earnings will be added to the fund balance.
  • JARC will use up to 25% of the initial fund balance or current balance each year, whichever is greater, for general purpose funds.  Expenses will be charged directly to funds with a specified purpose.

What happens at the end of the guaranteed lifespan?

Funds can exist beyond the guaranteed lifespan, assuming that at least $1,000 remains in the fund.

  • Additional funds can be added before the end of the guaranteed lifespan to ensure the fund’s active continuation.
  • If less than $1,000 remains in the fund after the guaranteed lifespan. (e.g., after 5 years have passed for a $5,000 initial gift), the remainder will be added to JARC’s general fund balance and the named fund will cease.
